Step 3

Wash the green onions thoroughly with water, especially the roots for a few minutes. This is very important, you don’t want to plant you green onion cuttings with pests or infected soil.

Step 4

Take a container, it could be a regular pot or even a yogurt container, but you must clean it and dry it. You don’t need a deep container, since the green onion roots are relatively short.

When thinking of the container you will plant, you need to think mainly on how much cuttings you want to plant, and make you they have enough space. 1 inch between each one is good enough spacing.

Step 5

Fill the pot with a good soil mix all the way up. Keep the soil loose, don’t tighten it. In case you find lumps in the soil, crush it to ensure the root can grow and good draining.

Step 6

After you finish filling the soil mix, make holes to plant your green onion cuttings. Make the holes deep enough that all the roots are inside the soil and most of the stalks.
